Home Buying Is Easier When You Know Your Remodeling Options

While I am not a professional contractor, I have a good friend who is. He often calls and tells me about his days and I have learned a lot about home renovations and remodeling options just listening to his stories. Knowing my home remodeling options greatly aided the shopping experience when I was ready to purchase my first home. I wanted to live in a location close to my family, and there were limited homes on the market in the area. However, due to knowing what changes could be made to an existing home, I was able to find a good house that I knew I could make great with just a few changes after I bought it. I was recently inspired to create a blog to share what I have learned about home renovations with anyone who would like to read it!

4 Tips To Help You Give A Plain Vinyl Siding A Unique Custom Look

If you are ready to have new siding installed on your home, vinyl can be a great choice. It can also be a plain looking siding material. There are some ways that you can give your siding more of a custom look with things like combining different styles and adding trim details. Here are some things that can be done to your vinyl siding installation to give it more of a custom look:

1. Combining Various Styles Of Vinyl Siding

If you want to have vinyl siding with a custom look, you may want to consider using different styles of siding. This can include lap siding, as well as shakes and board-and-batten. Using the different styles can help to break up different design features of your home. You may want to check with different manufacturers to get different options for styles and looks for your custom siding installation. Different manufacturers will have different styles of products that can be combined on your home for a truly custom look.

2. Adding Wider Trim Details To Vinyl Siding

There is also the trim that you use with your siding. With conventional vinyl products, this is usually a thin J-channel strip that the siding goes into. Instead of using just the J-channel, consider using wood corner-boards and other trim pieces. If you want this trim to be as durable as the siding, you can also have them wrapped with the same metal that is used to cover the fascia boards with vinyl siding. This will give the trim a durable finish that never needs painting.

3. Giving Windows And Doors Details With Woodwork

You can also give plain windows a new look with your siding installation. Before you have vinyl siding installed, consider adding woodwork around the windows. This can include things like window sills, keystones and wide trim. This is something that you will want to do when old siding is removed, which will allow you to easily add these features to your windows. This can be a good way to give plain metal or vinyl windows more of a custom look to match the rest of your home.

These are some of the things that you can do to give your home a custom look with a vinyl siding installation. If you are ready to give your home a custom look with new siding, contact a siding contractor like Allstate Gutter & Siding and talk with them about doing some of these things for your home.
